Insurance.com released its list of the 10 most dangerous foods to eat while driving.  While driving distractions these days focus one talking and texting on a mobile device, it’s easy to overlook food as a distraction.

Black Garlic Turmeric Chicken and Pasta

So I’ve been experimenting with black garlic and I spent some time in the kitchen trying to figure out what paired with it.  Well, I have a dish that combines an unlikely marriage between black garlic and turmeric.

Ingredients

1 clove of black garlic – chopped
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of ground coriander seed
2 teaspoons of olive oil
2 servings of spaghetti
5 ounces of chicken breast, cubed (marinate overnight with extra virgin olive oil and salt for more tenderness)

Starbucks Branching Out to 15th Ave.

Starbucks is looking to expand once again, only this time in a bold new direction.  The company is testing a new concept to lure evening customers.  Starting next week, the new store, 15th Ave. Coffee and Tea inspired by Starbucks, will be launched in Seattle and will be offering customers not only coffee and tea, but also wine and beer.  Two other locations in Seattle have already been planned to outfit the new store, and if all goes well, expansion to other cities.

A Tasting of Black Garlic

So I finally got my hands on a couple bulbs of black garlic.  When I was searching for it months ago, I couldn’t find it, and when I’m not looking for it, it just pops out of nowhere.  Nowhere being Whole Foods.  Black garlic is created by fermenting garlic for a month under a special process where the meat softens, turns black, and the flavor mellows out into a sweet, yet light  tangy taste.
