Last month, I had the pleasure of experiencing Korean fried chicken for the first time at Bon Chon Chicken in Manhattan. For my second time, I went to Boom Boom Chicken in Fort Lee on Wednesday. I’ve been reading the reviews about this place and I heard the chicken is comparable to that of Bon Chon’s. It’s a small place and it’s design seems to be suited for take out. I ordered the wings and drumstick mix of regular and spicy. It took about twenty minutes for my order to …

While New York City has mandated chain restaurants to post their calorie information, this website also gives those outside of the city an opportunity to check out the menus and calories of the food items before you even decide to step into the premises. However, caloric data isn’t only limited to restaurant data. The website contains caloric data of 70,000 foods and 500 restaurants. There is also data on the amount of protein, carbs, and fat on certain items. The website categorizes the information by generic …

Hello everyone. It has been a while since i have posted on FoodieFixation. Today I will share a recipe on mackerel. I had mackerel at a Korean restaurant last week and I loved the taste and texture of the fish. The Mackerel has a very chewy texture, similar to that of cod fish, yet the taste is similar to that of catfish. The one thing I like about mackerel is that it tastes good with a light amount of salt and pepper or with a hint of sauce.

I’ve been waiting to satisfy my ramen crave for the past 2 months. This place is packed on a Saturday night and the line is almost out the door. Since I’m only a party of one, I was seated almost immediately. I enjoy eating out on my own, not that I don’t like company, I’m just able to focus on my food more. It seems like parties of two get seated rather quickly too.
This time around, I ordered the salad and the original ramen. …

Today I had lunch at The Greek Village restaurant in Northvale, NJ. It’s a small restaurant with about ten seats, and when I was there this afternoon, it was a full house. While I love getting chicken and rice off the streetside in New York City, the chicken souvlaki platter at this place was better and top notch. The chicken was grilled just right, the pita was warm and chewy, the rice had just the right amount of flavor, and the tzatziki sauce was consistent and thick. …

Looks like I’ll be writing mobile posts until I get a replacement laptop.
There’s always one thing that nags me, and that’s public microwave etiquitte When it comes to using a microwave at a common area, certain manners have to be followed.
First of all, if you make a mess no matter how large or small inside the microwave, clean it up.
Second, before you open the microwave door to put in your food, make sure it is not in use.
And finally, never walk away from the microwave while your food is …

I haven’t been posting because my laptop started to act funny last week. Today it seemed to take its last breathe. While I did back up most of my files to an external hard drive…it looks like I won’t be able to recover a number of important files. I’ll see if I can repair it, but it’s not booting up beyond the BIOS and it looks like one of the colors on the LCD is burned out. Maybe it’s time for a Mac, I was never a …

I’m at the Japanese market, Mitsuwa, looking to buy a few grocery items. But instead, I find myself in the middle of the food court enjoying the beef curry udon soup that’s pictured below. Damn these temptations.

Amidst of talking on the cell phone, fumbling over the radio controls, and shaving (or putting on make-up) while you drive, there’s one more distraction to send yourself and others into impending doom. Maplin, a British company that can be seen as the equivalent to Radio Shack in the States, is selling a microwave for the car.
The specifications on the website recommends turning on the car’s engine to prevent major battery drainage. Whether you want to use this while driving or not, is totally up to you. …

Once in a while, we encounter a jar that seems impossible to twist open. And guys, even with all the strength training, sometimes the end result is futility and humiliation…especially when you fail to open it in front of a girl. Weak. But it’s alright, some times using your noggin is more effective then brute strength alone. YumSugar has a neat post on using a spoon to open a stubborn jar.
Hold the spoon in one hand and the jar firmly in the other.
Nestle the spoon …
