Corn is definitely a Summer grilling staple.  Even though I don’t have an outdoor grill, I can still count on my trusty stove top grill.  A local supermarket was selling unhusked white and yellow corn for $0.20 each, so I bought a dollar’s worth.  Here’s how I prepare and grill corn.
Grilled Corn
Ingredients

Unhusked Corn (3)
Juice from half a lime
1 Tsp of melted butter
Pepper
Adobo seasoning
Paprika

Peel off the thick outer layers of husk from the corn, leaving the soft inner husk.  Peel down the inner husk, but do not remove.  Remove the …

The first time I had rum cake was aboard the Norwegian Dawn Cruise to the Bahamas.  I liked it so much that I purchased a couple of boxes for the trip home.  That was four years ago, and I have not had any since.  Well, my good friend just came back from a Caribbean cruise and he brought back a box of Tortuga Rum Cake for me.  This stuff is amazing.  If you ever come across it, pick up a box.  If you can’t find it anywhere, you should try …

So I’m watching this new HK drama, “Speech of Silence” and I was blown away by the size of the ramen bowls in this scene.   The combined diameter of the bowls are longer than the length of the table! The story goes, if they can finish their ramen in seven minutes or less, they eat for free.  The next scene didn’t show if they finished the ramen in time.  Seriously, if there was something like this in the states, I am up to the challenge!  Six minutes is all …

This article lists ten tips to help relieve insomnia.  The list is actually made up of readers’ suggestions.  I found tip number 2 to be a bit odd.  It says, “eat a sandwich, thickly filled with lettuce, about half an hour before going to bed. You should sleep like a log.” – George Walker, Schwendi, Germany.  Um…ok?

I think I know what I’m going to be preparing for this weekend’s cooking project.  I had a dream…and it was a tasty dream.

I’m going to try my hand at making stuffed grape leaves.  It doesn’t look to be that difficult since I have experience making spring rolls.  The difficult part is going to  be deciding on the type of stuffing and how to prepare it.

A small study suggests that by eating a big breakfast full of carbs and protein (good carbs and protein I assume), and is followed by a low carb, low calorie lunch and dinner for the rest of the day, one can lose weight and keep it off.  Apparently, the big breakfast helps control appetite and ward off cravings for sweets and starches.
There were two study groups.  A group of 48 women were on a strict 1,085 calories a day diet, while the 48 women in the big breakfast group consumed …

To make sure the toast Gods don’t get all vengeful on your ass, you can appease them with this CO2 gas-powered toaster.  It is officially the highest popping toaster in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records.  I wonder how high Pop-Tarts can go?  And another question…why?

I was at Bed, Bath, and Beyond in search of a magazine rack.  While I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I did happen to come across a unique product.  It’s called Kapoosh, the universal knife block.  The design is quite innovative and it spawns one of those “wow, that’s so smart! moments.”  Instead of placing the knives into a slot, they go into the Kapoosh freedom rods.  They’re just a bunch of angel-hair size plastic rods that are packed tightly together, with just enough room to slide the …

The number of people who have been sickened by tainted tomatoes has reached 552.  Seriously, don’t people take heed to warnings?  Let’s avoid the raw red plum, red Roma and red round tomatoes for now.

Skewered  Grilled Shrimp w/ Lime Tortilla Chips
Ten days back, I wrote I was in a prawny predicament.  Defeated in looking for a way to prepare and cook the water critters, I put them into the freezer.  Well, a simple idea dawned upon me this week and I tried it out.  I would grill the shrimp and freshwater prawns with olive oil, Adobo seasoning, pepper, and lime juice.  And you know what?  It was fantastic.
The ingredients are just that, olive oil, Adobo, pepper, and lime juice.  Brush the crustaceans with olive …
