I’ve always been a fan of MItsuwa. There’s a place in my heart for it. Selling all things Japanese and then some, it really knows how to attract a crowd with its special events. This weekend, it was holding it’s annual blue fin tuna cutting demonstration and it was neat to watch it being done in person. I realized that turning that hulking mound of fish into sashimi isn’t an easy task. It took three people just to remove a quarter of the meat.
Getting ready to cut up this 300lb …

…and it begins!
Empty stomach, check. Tickets, check.
I’m greeted by smoke and aroma of grilled chicken .
Looked like pork shoulder (aka pork butt) to me, but I’m not too sure.
Saucing up the pulled pork.
My first taste of the day, porchetta. So fatty, so delicious.
Buffalo Alligator. Tastes just like chicken. Seriously, …

Before the start of my weekend shift on the execution of a project I was managing at work, I was able to squeeze in some time early Saturday afternoon to attend the 9th Avenue International Food Festival that was held between 37th and 57th streets. The weather conditions were exemplary. The sun was was shining brighht and it was accompanied by a light breeze.
