On Friday, I went to lunch with my coworkers to Don Pepe Restaurant in Newark, New Jersey. Newark is home to some great Spanish, Latin American, and Portuguese food, especially in the Ironbound District. I have yet to visit the Ironbound District, but I will be making my way down there probably sometime in the Summer months.
Don Pepe is located down the block from Newark Penn Station in the downtown area at 844 McCarter Highway. The food is great, and for the price, the portions are generous. I noticed many tables around ours were taking the rest of their unfinished food home. Those were the lunch portions. I wonder how much food the restaurant gives for the dinner portions? For the quality, portions, service, and price, you can’t find this in New York City. Recommended.

Camarones en Salsa de Ajo - Shrimp in Garlic Sauce

Paella Valenciana - Shellfish, Chicken and Spanish Sausage

Filete de Lenquado a la Vasca - Fillet of Sole with Shrimp, Clams and Mussels in Clam and Wine Sauce
