My friend had her birthday dinner at Supper on Friday. It’s located on 156 E. Second Street between Avenue A and B in Lower Manhattan.
Upon passing through the doors, you’ll have to make your way through the heavy drapes. Once inside, you’ll immediately notice the dimly lit interior, the tight space and the open kitchen. The front portion of the restaurant is filled up with small tables for parties of 2 or 4. The tables for large groups were placed in the back. The space in the restaurant is congested, my guess is that it’s to convey the homely feeling of having the entire family cram together over the dinner table, because that’s what it felt like.
There were twelve of us, so we ordered family style. The dishes that I thought stood out were the gnocchi in garlic sauce and the braised beef. I don’t remember the actual name of the dishes, and I don’t think they’re part of the regular menu. The base sauce of the gnocchi dish was similar to that of a vodka sauce and beef was extremely tender and flavorful.
I was trying really hard not to eat meat on Good Friday, but I couldn’t resist!
If you’re in the mood for good Italian food, stop on by for Supper.
As you can see from the pictures, it’s dark inside.

Filet of Sole Oregonata

The beef dish, I don’t recall the name.
