It was almost 2AM in the morning on Saturday and I had just finished watching two of my high school friends’ band, Liam and Me perform in the Lower East Side. Their album is dropping August 2008, and if you listen to Indie Pop/Rock, this is an album worth checking out.  Earlier, I had dinner at Supper, but I didn’t eat enough to last me through the rest of the night. My other friend that was there at the concert was hungry as well and told me Katz’s Deli was a few blocks down the street. And so we went. I had never been there before, but I knew that it was a famous landmark.

The deli is located at the corner of Ludlow and E. Houston Streets in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It’s the oldest and largest Jewish delicatessen in the world. It’s considered one of New York’s best, and after my first bite into that signature pastrami sandwich of theirs, I have to agree. The famous “I’ll have what she’s having” scene from When Harry Met Sally was filmed there as well. In addition, the deli has served several U.S. Presidents.

I hear the hot dogs and corned beef sandwiches are great, but on your first visit, go with the pastrami sandwich. It’ll set you back $15.66, but it’s worth the splurge.
