As I was walking back to my apartment, I caught a glimpse of a hamburger bun in the bushes and continued walking. Then I thought, what’s a hamburger bun doing in the bushes? So retraced my steps. Turns out, there were a bunch of hamburger buns growing in the bushes. I couldn’t resist snapping a few pics.
Be warned, a bite out of one of these sesame seed buns will send you on an express trip to meet the grim reaper. What you’re looking at is some sort of toxic yellow toadstool. Anyone know what species this is?
Update: This toadstool is the Amanita muscaria var. guessowii.

I don’t know exactly, but it might be related to Amanita Muscaria… they seem to have those sesame seeds. I found some of his brothers in the catskills recently:

Some in the family are hallucinogenic, though apparently people mistake the “death cap” and “destroying angels” for these sometimes.
Thanks Jeremy. You’re definite right, it’s related to Amanita Muscaria. It’s called Amanita muscaria var. guessowii.
