Going to space and can’t leave home without your precious kimchi? Well, after years of research and millions of dollars, South Korean space scientists have successfully engineered kimchi and nine other dishes that are suitable for space travel. The reason the kimchi had to be made ’space ready’ is because ‘non-space kimchi’ has a short shelf life and is filled with microbes, such as lactic acid bacteria, which could mutate in space.
