Eating Healthy vs Going On A Diet

Last week, I told my friend that I was eating healthy and that I cut out certain foods. An example would be replacing Corn Pops cereal with Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal. She then asked if I was on a diet, and I told her no. She was still convinced that I was on a diet. First of all, I have trouble associating myself with the word diet. I’m lean enough as it is and I spend a lot of time at the gym. I don’t need to lose anymore weight. I’ve increased my vegetable and fruit intake, and moved on to eating more whole grains. To me, a diet means calorie restriction. For those who know me, you know that I’m always eating, and my food portions are rather large. Even though I’ve cut out many foods such as fast food, most fried foods, high starch foods, sugary foods, and white flour based products, I’m able to replace them with healthier alternatives and healthier cooking methods. Since I’ve made the switch, I can tell my body has more energy. I did lose some weight, but it’s not by choice, it’s just that the food I’m eating is less fatty, sugary and oily. Is there a fine line between going heathy and going on a diet?
