Fear of Dishwashing

I’m at the car service center and this place has free Wi-Fi. It definitely helps the time go by faster while I’m waiting.

One of the reasons I moved out of my old place is that I wanted a kitchen to myself. The most annoying part of living with roommates was that dirty dishes were never cleaned promptly. Some dishes would sit in the sink for days, and then more dishes would be piled on. By the end of the week, whatever didn’t fit in the sink would be placed on the counter. I only washed the dishes I used, and left the rest there. Sometimes, there wasn’t enough sink space for me to wash my dishes. Also, if my dishes were on the bottom of the sink and were absolutely covered by the dishes of my other roommates, I would wait for them to clean up their dishes first. The wait usually lasts for days, and sometimes, up to a week.

While I never let my dishes stay in the sink for more than 24 hours at the apartment, there are lots of times when I just want to leave the dishes in the sink for days…or throw them out. I really despise doing the dishes as I spent a good portion of my life at my father’s restaurant washing dishes. In fact, sinkfulls of dishes scare me nowadays. There has to be a phobia for fear of dirty dishes! I do my best to multi-task when I cook, and that includes washing dishes while I’m waiting for the food to cook. It’s just one of those chores that I want to get over and done with as quick as I can.  There’s always the dishwasher, but for some reason, I don’t like to use it.
